"I always say I'm 'nervouscited.'"
Singer: Renee D.
Age: 10 years old
Ensemble: Lincoln Park/DePaul Neighborhood Choir
Last winter Renee took the stage at the legendary Metro where she sang her grandmother's favorite song in Bengali while her grandmother listened over the phone. Afterward, Joe Shanahan, who founded Metro, came over to congratulate her on the choice: "That kind of song, bilingual and something different. That's wonderful."
This spring she traveled to Denver with the Bridging America Tour to perform on stages a little farther from home. "I get a little bit nervous," she says. "But I always say I'm 'nervouscited,' because I'm nervous and excited at the same time."
We represent every zip code of Chicago and welcome singers in grades 3 through 12, no audition required. Find the neighborhood choir nearest you.
