Canto Latino is an annual festival that brings together youth across Uniting Voices programs and the Chicago community for a celebration of the city's proud Latin American heritage through song, story and dance.
Canto Latino: Salsa en mi barrio is breathing new life into iconic salsa music! We will be exploring the historical significance and teaching the building blocks of salsa music through the eyes of our characters Isa and Val, who sing together in our Humboldt Park Neighborhood Choir. From Cuba to New York, Puerto Rico to Venezuela, our characters will navigate the genre through familiar songs to many Latine families.
Join us in celebration with our after-school programs, a live salsa band, dance and community!
