Lyrics and Translations

El Cocodrilo de Humboldt Park

In the beautiful lake of Humboldt Park,

One day a crocodile appeared.

I think that the owner thought that the crocodile wanted to be free,

and just threw it in the water!

The crocodile of Humboldt Park,

The crocodile of Humboldt Park escaped!

It’s hard to catch it, it slipped away,

what are we going to do?

It’s hard to catch it!

There is the crocodile- Ay!

How Scary!

I’m out of here!

They caught the crocodile

It has a thousand sharp teeth!

It was sent to Florida to live the good life

The crocodile of Humboldt Park!

Oh, I have, I have eyes

Oh, I have, I have eyes,

But no one, mother, to look at,

No one, dear, to look at!

Oh, I have, I have hands,

But no one, mother, to hug,

No one, dear, to hug!

Oh, I have, I have legs,

But no one, mother, to dance with,

But no one, dear, to dance with!

Vaishnava Jana To

A good human being is one

who feels the pain of others

Helps those in misery,

bars pride from entering the mind

A good human being

accepts, respects, the entire world,

speaks ill of none.

Keeps his words, thoughts

and actions pure.

Such a person’s mother

is blessed indeed

Lo ta nu’u

Traditional Samoan Hymn

Lo ta nu’u, ua ou fanau ai

Lalelei oe i, le vasa

Ua e maua, mai luga

O le tofi, aoga

Samoana

Ala mai,

Fai ai nei,

Le fa’afetai,

I le pule, ua mau ai

O lou nu’u, i le vasa

Lo ta nu’u

Traditional Samoan Hymn

My dear country, where I was born

You are the most beautiful in the ocean

You have obtained from above

A most important inheritance / duty

People of Samoa

Arise (wake up)

Give (now)

Your thanksgiving

To the Most High, who gave you

Your island / country, here in the ocean

Hubava Si Moia Goro (You Are Beautiful, My Forest)

Hubava si moia goro

Mirishesh na mladost

No vseliavash v surtzata ni

Samo skrub I jhalost

Koito vednuj te e pogledne

Toi vechno jhalee

Che ne moje pod tvoite

Senki da iztlee.

Hubava Si Moia Goro (You Are Beautiful, My Forest)

How beautiful you are, my forest,

you smell like youth

but in our hearts you instill

only grief and sadness

Whoever looks upon you once

they forever mourn

For under your shadows they can't

ever wither away

Alma Llanera (Soul of the Plains)

Yo nací en una ribera
del Arauca vibrador,
soy hermana de la espuma,
de las garzas, de las rosas,
soy hermana de la espuma,
de las garzas, de las rosas
y del sol, y del sol.

Me arrulló la viva Diana
de la brisa en el palmar,
y por eso tengo el alma
como el alma primorosa,
y por eso tengo el alma
como el alma primorosa
del cristal, del cristal.

Amo, lloro, canto, sueño
con claveles de pasión,
con claveles de pasión.
Amo, lloro, canto, sueño
para ornar las rubias crines
del potro de mi amador.

Yo nací en una ribera
del Arauca vibrador,
soy hermana de la espuma,
de las garzas, de las rosas
y del sol.

Alma Llanera (Soul of the Plains)

I was born in this bank
of the vibrating Arauca River,
I am sister of its foam,
of the herons, of the roses,
I am sister of its foam,
of the herons, of the roses
and the sun, and the sun.

I was lulled by the vivid reveille
of the breeze in the palm grove,
and so I have the soul
like the exquisite soul,
and so I have the soul
like the exquisite soul
of the crystal, of the crystal.

I love, I weep, I sing, I dream
with carnations of passion,
with carnations of passion.
I love, I weep, I sing, I dream
to adorn the blonde mane
of my lover's colt.

I was born in this bank
of the vibrating Arauca River,
I am sister of its foam,
of the herons, of the roses
and the sun.

iindonga zaJeriko (Zulu anti-apartheid song)

The walls of Jericho fall to pieces! They fall!
