Lyrics and Translations

Arirang

.. Arirang, Arirang, Arariyo...... I am crossing over Arirang Pass. The man/woman who abandoned me here. Will not walk even ten miles before their feet hurt.

Jubilate Deo

Be jubilant to God
Hallelujah

Sulla lulla

Sleep my child

El cocodrilo de Humboldt Park

In the beautiful lake at Humboldt Park, one day a crocodile appeared.
I think that the owner thought that the crocodile wanted to be free and just threw it in the water.

The crocodile of Humboldt Park escaped. It’s hard to catch it. It slipped away, what are we going to do? It’s hard to catch.
There is the crocodile, Ay! How scary, I’m out of here!

They caught the crocodile. It has a thousand sharp teeth. It was sent to Florida to live a good life. The crocodile of Humboldt Park!

Isé Olúwa

God’s work
the work of the creator
Can never be spoiled/destroyed/bad.

La Paloma
Where did the dove that the sparrow hawk caught go?
Where is the dove that the sparrow hawk caught?
At Romona’s gate, Oh! Look, I found it plucked.
All in life is false, death is the only truth.
For there is where pomp and vanity run out.
Why wouldn’t I cry when my mother dies?
I wish I could bring her back to life.
I’m leaving, Maria, I leave the dove there for you,
Open its beak and make it eat,
I’m leaving the food there.
I say goodbye even though
the gaita is very good.
Beat this drum hard so my sorrow cheers up.

Ndandihleli
I am sitting here in the dark,
thinking of my love.
My love, my sweetie, my darling.
I am sitting here in the dark,
I am dying of HIV.
My love, my sweetie, my darling.

Singabahambayo Thina; Siyahamba; Shosholoza

We are marching for Freedom. We say, "Hallelujah!"

We are marching in the Light of God

The train comes from the mountains to South Africa
Run to the train! It is coming from the mountains to South Africa
