Director
Erin Lane is Vice President and Chief of Staff at the University of Chicago. In this role Erin serves as an advisor to the University’s President and a senior leader of the University advancing the University’s priorities. She is responsible for overseeing the Office of the President, the University’s government affairs function, presidential strategic initiatives, and a variety of planning activities. Since arriving at the University in 2014, Erin has held a number of positions, including as Assistant Vice President for Science and Strategy in the office of the Executive Vice President for Science, Innovation, National Laboratories. With deep and varied experience working with people across disciplines and sectors, Erin specializes in driving forward large, interdisciplinary collaborations. This skill set leverages years as a practicing social worker.
In her career as a social worker, Erin worked directly with families in medical, mental health, and juvenile justice settings in Philadelphia and Chicago. Erin has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives in Hyde Park with her husband and two children – all of whom enjoy making music and engaging the rich musical offerings of Chicago.
