RollingOut | June 18, 2026

A landmark moment in Chicago unfolded on Thursday as the Obama Presidential Center held its grand opening ceremony on the city’s South Side, drawing thousands of attendees and a star-studded program that reflected the full cultural and civic weight of the occasion. The event marked the culmination of more than a decade of planning, fundraising, and construction — and for many who showed up, it carried the feeling of something long overdue finally arriving.

An invocation led by Pastor Joel Hunter and Joshua DuBois opened the proceedings with a tone of reflection and shared purpose.
